With increased recognition of the extraordinary stress of a Foreign Service career, resilience has become an important topic of discussion in the Foreign Service. AFSA is pleased to offer this important and interesting panel discussion to keep the conversation going and provide resources and ideas to those who may have questions about resilience.
 
Panelists are:
  • Beth Payne, Director of FSI's Center for Excellence in Foreign Affairs Resilience
  • Ambassador (ret.) Prudence Bushnell
  • Dr. Felicia Wilson Young of the USAID Staff Care Center
Ambassador Bushnell's book, "Terrorism, Betrayal and Resilience: My Story of the 1998 U.S. Embassy Bombings," will be available for purchase at the event.

Beth Payne assumed leadership of the U.S. Department of State’s Center of Excellence in Foreign Affairs Resilience in October 2016. She was a career Foreign Service officer from 1993 until 2016 and spent a decade studying and applying resilience skills and principles.
