Next Stage: Post-FS Careers for DS Personnel

is pleased to announce a "Next Stage" panel discussion on post-Foreign
Service careers for Diplomatic Security (DS) personnel, taking place at
AFSA Headquarters, 2101 E Street NW, on Friday, October 18 from
12:00-1:30 p.m. The focus of the panel will be on the practical, with
emphasis on how to parlay the unique skill set of diplomatic security
personnel to make a successful transition into related professional
"Next Stage" series highlights career options and activities post-FS.
This panel, which marks the fourth program in the series, is geared to
both active-duty and retired AFSA members who are considering career
options and activities related to their careers in diplomatic security
post-Foreign Service. Previous panels focused on teaching, writing, and
the private sector, most of which are available for view at afsa.org/video.
The distinguished panelists are:
- Justine Sincavage
is a Senior Security Consultant at the Department of State and an
Accountability Review Board Member. Previous to returning to State, Ms.
Sincavage was the Assistant Chief Security Officer of Global Security
Operations for General Electric between 2012-2017. Her positions at the
Department of State included Office Director of DS's Office of Overseas
Protection and Deputy Assistant Secretary of DS's Office of Foreign
- John Rendeiro
joined International SOS Assistance, Inc. in 2006 as Vice President,
Global Security and Intelligence, and transitioned to his current role
as Senior Advisor in 2019. Prior to joining SOS, Mr. Rendeiro was DS's
Assistant Director for International Programs. Other positions he held
in DS included Director of Intelligence and Threat Analysis, Director of
Anti-Terrorism Assistance, and Chief of the Office of Professional
- Erik Antons
is Vice President of Global Security for Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
Prior to joining Hyatt, he was Manager of International Security and
Executive Service with Sempra Energy. Mr. Antons joined State as a
Special Agent in 2004, and served in Panama and Argentina as the
Assistant Regional Security Officer and completed a variety of Temporary
Duty assignments including in Iraq and Liberia.
- Glen Gershman
is Vice President for Global Safety and Security for Laureate
Education, which operates more than 150 campuses worldwide. Prior to
joining Laureate in 2012, Mr. Gershman
was a Special Agent with DS, serving in a variety of
capacities including on the Secretary's detail and in the Washington
Field Office, the Office of Professional Responsibility, and
the Regional Security Offices in Brussels, Beirut, and Islamabad.
